Associate Professor Ozlem Arıcan Ozluk
She graduated from Ankara Hacettepe Faculty of Medicine in 2001 with outstanding success. In 2000, she completed her elective internship by receiving a scholarship and working as a research assistant in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at the University of Washington under Prof. Dr. Carlos Perez, a world leader in his field. In 2001, she won the Department of Cardiology at Dokuz Eylül University with high success degree. While continuing her residency training, she worked as a research assistant through the auspices of Prof. Dr. George Sutherland, who is considered the founder of strain-strain rate echocardiography at London St George’s Hospital, in order to increase strain echocardiography and advanced echocardiographic training. After this period, which she considered as a turning point in her professional life, she devoted herself to improving herself especially in advanced echocardiography – transesophageal echocardiography and valve diseases. She worked as an assistant researcher in multicenter international studies such as ASSENT IV, ACTIVE-A and ACTIVE-I at Dokuz Eylül University. In this process and after her specialization training, she took part in many national studies as a researcher and coordinator. In 2006, she successfully passed the cardiology specialty exam and started her goverment duty as a cardiology consultant doctor at Elazig Training and Research Hospital. In the same year, she passed the oral and written exams held for the first time by the Turkish Society of Cardiology with high scores and became one of the few cardiology physicians in the country who won the “Certificate of Cardiology Board”. While continuing her goverment duty at Elazig Training and Research Hospital between 2006-2010, she was among the cardiology team that established the invasive unit in the hospital and was the first doctor to perform coronary angiography in the catheter unit at that time in this center. In 2006, her oral presentation was selected among the best papers by the Turkish Society of Cardiology and presented as an oral presentation at the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) cardiology congress held in Czech Republic in the same year.
In 2010 she successfully passed the written and oral exams for the chief opened by the Ministry of Health and started her duty as a special staff of cardiology educator at Bursa Yüksek İhtisas Hospital. In the same year, she was elected to the “Future Leaders in Cardiology” group of the European Society of Cardiology (European Society of Cardiology) to represent the Turkish Society of Cardiology.
In 2013 and the following 2018, she worked as a research assistant in the team of Prof Dr Luigi Badano, the leader of this subject in Europe, on three-dimensional echocardiography and advanced echocardiography techniques at the University of Padua, Italy, and completed her training.
She took part as a trainer and organized courses in many national courses on three-dimensional echocardiography and transesophageal echocardiography. She was among the most competent names in her hospital and region especially about valve disease, heart valve infection, intraoperative echocardiography and transesophageal echocardiography procedures. In this context, she provided many trainings to young cardiologists. In 2016, she took the exams and got the title of Associate Professor in cardiology. She took part in the projects carried out jointly by the Ministry of Health with the European Union as a trainer and took part in many public information services.
She took part in many positions, including the Vice President of the Cardiovascular Academy Association, and still continues her duty on the board of directors. She is also the co-chairman of the Cardiovascular Academy Working Groups, which includes young cardiologists, and continues to edit the KVAK Bulten Journal. As a physician whose passion for learning and teaching never ceases, she is actively involved in the organizing committees of many cardiology congresses.
She has opened her own private cardiology clinic since 2021 and has been serving full-time. She is the planning and presenter of the television program at Bursa AS TV.
She provides services to her patients with academic knowledge and high communication technique in all matters related to cardiology, and valvular diseases, echocardiography, endoscopic echocardiography, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, heart failure, heart follow-up in patients undergoing oncological treatment, cardiovascular diseases management are the subjects he has mastered and excelled at. .
She is married and has two children. She is an animal lover and has a small dog. He speaks fluent English and basic Spanish.
